Wedding
We had a great stay in Durham. We came in for a wedding and learned we’d love to come back. The apartment was really cool, loved the industrial building turned into homes. Great, large space! My toddler appreciated the long hall!

Family stay
Great location, clean and spacious. Out of respect for other guests, this is not a place for large loud crowds or loud children. Noise does travel some throughout the building.

We had a great stay! We loved the beautiful light coming into the old windows in the morning. This was our baby’s first stay away from home but he slept great!

Fun, nice place to stay when in Durham. The dog area was perfect for our daughter’s guide dog.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We had to leave our other Air BnB because of cleanliness/safety issues. They allowed us to book last minute. The apartment was so cute and clean. The location is even better. Staying here really helped lift our spirits during a difficult weekend visiting a sick family member at Duke.

This was a real find for me since my daughter actually lives year round in the same community; we all love west village and this airBNB really made it super special for our family!

Family stay
The place was cute. The management was quick to communicate which was great. It's very hard to get in and out of. Not ideal with a family or pets so that's the only reason I wouldn't go back. But great location right downtown.

The loft was a very neat place to stay! The family really enjoyed the place, and the cats liked exploring all the spaces. Its location was walkable to all sorts of restaurants and shops, and the owners provided exceptionally detailed check-in instructions.

Apartment vs hotel

Built for the whole family, not just one room

  • A full kitchen

Cook around picky eaters and early bedtimes — full-size fridge, dishwasher, real cookware — instead of dragging the kids out for every meal.

  • Room for the whole family

A 2-bedroom sleeps six, with separate bedrooms so the kids can sleep while you stay up — one apartment instead of two hotel rooms, with a living room to spread out.

  • In-unit laundry

Travel light with kids and wash mid-trip — a washer and dryer in every unit (a lifesaver with a toddler).

  • Lower per-night cost

For a family, a 2-bedroom apartment usually beats two hotel rooms — more space for less, and booking direct drops the 15–20% OTA service fee entirely. Ask about weekly rates.

  • Baby gear, provided

Traveling with a little one? We keep a pack-n-play and a high chair on hand — tell us when you book and we’ll have them set up before you arrive, so you don’t have to fly with the crib.

  • A local team, not a call center

We own and operate every apartment, so you reach the people who run the building — quick answers when you’re traveling with the kids, and easy to extend if you add a day.

Why families book these

Built for traveling with kids

Hotels make a family pick between a cramped room and two pricey ones. A 2-bedroom apartment gives you more space for less — here’s what makes these work for families.

  • Separate bedrooms

Two real bedrooms (the lofts sleep six) so the kids can go to bed while the grown-ups stay up — plus a living room to actually relax in, not one room with everyone on top of each other.

  • A full kitchen

Cook around picky eaters, allergies, and early bedtimes — full-size fridge, dishwasher, and real cookware — instead of dragging the kids out for every meal. In-unit laundry handles the spills.

  • Baby gear, provided

Traveling with a little one? We keep a pack-n-play and a high chair on hand — tell us when you book and we’ll have them set up before you arrive, so you don’t have to fly with the crib.

  • Walkable, and near Duke

You’re in downtown Durham’s most walkable district — restaurants, parks, and groceries on foot — and a short drive from Duke’s campus and hospital, with Amtrak in the complex for grandparents traveling in.

Good to know

Questions before you book

Do the apartments have room for a family?

Yes — these are 2-bedroom lofts that sleep six, with two real bedrooms, a full living room, a full kitchen, and in-unit laundry. Room for two parents, a couple of kids, and a visiting grandparent, instead of cramming into one hotel room or paying for two.

Can you provide a crib, pack-n-play, or high chair?

Yes — we keep a pack-n-play and a high chair on hand for our family guests. Just tell us when you book and we’ll have them set up before you arrive, so you don’t have to travel with the crib.

How close are you to Duke?

The West Village lofts are in downtown Durham, about a 2-mile, 8-minute drive from Duke’s campus and hospital — handy for a campus visit, graduation, or a family member’s appointment. There’s no light rail in Durham, so plan on a short drive or rideshare. Times are approximate.

Is an apartment cheaper than a hotel for a family?

Usually, for two or more nights — a 2-bedroom apartment typically beats two hotel rooms on price while giving you far more space, a kitchen, and laundry. Booking direct also drops the 15–20% OTA service fee entirely, and weekly rates are available for a longer family stay.

Is the building family-friendly and safe?

The West Village lofts are in a quiet, walkable historic district with secure building access, on-site parking, and a pool and gym. It’s a calm residential base — many of our guests are families visiting Duke or relatives.
