BADFISH A TRIBUTE TO SUBLIME – Things to do Charlotte, NC
We can capture the infectious energy of Badfish, the tribute band that has dedicated itself to honoring Sublime, the iconic ska punk group.
Ever since their formation in 2001, Badfish has been subtly smoldering . They’ve really captured the Sublime essence in music, creating a scene that is constantly in color and forever young and full of life.
Sublime has been an important part of the alternative music scene since their first debut album, “40oz. to Freedom,” was released in 1992. Sublime, with their unique blend of influences from punk, reggae and ska won a loyal fan following and influenced countless musicians. But frontman Bradley Nowell’s sudden and premature death in 1996 cut their time short. The idea and the spirit of Sublime lives on through Badfish and any number of tribute bands that keep playing their music.
Badfish is not merely a cover band; their own enthusiasm is palpable when they play. What makes them unique among tribute bands is their uncanny ability to put the fire of Sublime’s music onto the stage. Anyone who has seen Badfish play live knows how genuine and devoted to their music they are.
In their shows, Badfish also plays some original material as well as some of Sublime’s classic hits. This not only gives an idea of their musical strengths but also reflects their musical sound, influenced as it is by Sublime. A perfect blend of respect for the past and living in the present.
Badfish tours extensively: their gigs are betting out at venues all over America; and word has it they even got noticed by Sublime’s survivors. They’ve been asked to perform at several festivals and events.
So, if you love Sublime or just really like great music, don’t miss the opportunity to see Badfish live in action on SATURDAY, JANUARY 13. This show is for people aged 16 and up, with the doors opening at 7pm and a 7:45pm start. Ticket are available in advance for $30. It’ll be a night of pure musical magic!
