Getting around
This is a drive-to venue — about 6 miles west of downtown at the Fairgrounds, with no year-round rail, so plan on a ~12–15 minute drive or a rideshare (and lean on the rideshare during the Fair). The upside is your base: 400H is in the heart of walkable downtown Raleigh, so Glenwood South, the Warehouse District, and Raleigh Union Station are all on foot.
West on Hillsborough St / Wade Avenue to Blue Ridge Road — about 6 miles / 12–15 minutes from downtown, longer during the Fair. The Fairgrounds have large free surface lots most of the year.
A quick, easy hop from downtown — the simplest option during the Fair, when on-site parking fills and roads back up. The arena sits beside Carter-Finley Stadium and Lenovo Center.
During the State Fair only, NC By Train / Amtrak runs special service to the Fairgrounds and GoRaleigh adds fair shuttles and park-and-rides — handy in mid-October, but not a year-round option. Otherwise GoRaleigh Route 27 (Blue Ridge) serves the area.
About 12 miles / a 20-minute drive — easy for a fly-in Fair or concert weekend.
Make a weekend of it
Base in walkable downtown Raleigh — Glenwood South and the Warehouse District at 400H's door — then make a day of the Fairgrounds, the NC Museum of Art right next door, and the show.
The NCMA — free admission, a 164-acre art park, and its own outdoor amphitheater — sits on Blue Ridge Road right by the Fairgrounds. An easy, scenic pairing with a Dorton event.
The Fairgrounds share the west-Raleigh complex with NC State football and the Hurricanes’ arena — pair a Dorton show with a game or concert the same weekend.
Restaurants, rooftop bars, and the Morgan Street Food Hall are at 400H's door — dinner before the drive out, drinks after.
Amtrak (the Carolinian, Piedmont, and Floridian) is a short walk from 400H — arrive by train and you only need a car or rideshare for the drive out.

During the Fair, on-site parking fills and paid lots plus park-and-ride shuttles take over, with heavy congestion — the simplest move is to stay downtown and rideshare. 400H includes secured resident parking, so your car stays put.
