Why book now

What's on at Jerry Richardson Stadium in 2026

The year’s headline events — book your stay before the dates you want fill up.

Football

Charlotte 49ers vs The Citadel

The 2026 home opener at Jerry Richardson Stadium — kick off the football season in University City.

Football

Charlotte 49ers vs Louisiana — Family Weekend

Family Weekend brings parents and alumni into town — one of the season’s prime overnight-stay dates.

Football

Charlotte 49ers vs Memphis — Homecoming

Homecoming against AAC rival Memphis — typically the biggest crowd of the year. Book early.

Football

Charlotte 49ers vs Tulane

A Friday-night conference game under the lights against Tulane.

Football

Charlotte 49ers vs East Carolina

The ECU rivalry — a regional draw that pulls fans in from across eastern North Carolina.

Football

Charlotte 49ers vs Navy — Military Appreciation

A Thanksgiving-weekend finale and Military Appreciation Day against Navy.

Coming in for one of these? The closer you book, the less you fight for parking and post-event traffic — and direct rates skip the OTA service fee.

Apartment vs hotel

Built for an event weekend, not just a night

  • A full kitchen

Feed a group before the event and skip the overpriced venue concessions. Cookware, dishwasher, full-size fridge — all included.

  • Room for the whole crew

A 2-bedroom sleeps six — one apartment instead of three hotel rooms, with a living room to actually hang out in.

  • In-unit laundry

Pack light for a multi-night run of shows or a season of home games. Washer and dryer in every unit.

  • Lower per-night cost

For two nights or more, a furnished apartment usually beats a comparable downtown hotel — and direct booking drops the 15–20% OTA service fee entirely.

  • Skip the post-show grind

Event lots empty slowly and the drive home is long. Stay minutes away and the worst of your night is a short, familiar trip back to your own door — resident parking waiting, no hour-plus crawl out and no late highway haul.

  • A local team, not a call center

We own and operate every apartment. Book direct and you reach the people who run the building, instantly confirmed.

Getting around

Getting there & back

You have a genuinely car-free option here, which is rare for a stadium. From Uptown it's a quick ~10-mile drive up I-77, but UNC Charlotte itself recommends the LYNX Blue Line on game days: ride north, then either walk ~10 minutes from JW Clay Blvd or take the free shuttle from the UNC Charlotte–Main terminus to the gate — skipping the paid decks and the post-game traffic entirely.

  • LYNX Blue Line

The easy way in on game day — and what UNC Charlotte recommends over driving. Board the Blue Line at any Uptown station (9th St, 7th St, CTC/Arena, 3rd St) and ride ~25–35 minutes north: get off at JW Clay Blvd for a ~10-minute walk to the gate, or stay on to the UNC Charlotte–Main terminus and catch the free game-day shuttle to the stadium. Late trains get you home after a night game.

  • By car

I-77 North to W.T. Harris Blvd (Exit 18) — about 10 miles / 15 minutes off-peak, longer on game day. Campus parking is all paid (digital permits in advance, ~$30 on the day, card only) and the decks empty slowly onto W.T. Harris and N. Tryon after the final whistle.

  • Rideshare

An Uber or Lyft from Uptown is about 10 miles — a clean option if you'd rather not park, and an easy pairing with the train for the ride home.

  • Charlotte Douglas (CLT) airport

    About 16 miles / a 25-minute drive — easy for a fly-in game weekend.

Charlotte's mural-covered arts district sits between campus and Uptown, right on the Blue Line — breweries, galleries, and live music on the way home.

Good to know

Questions before you book

How far is each apartment from Jerry Richardson Stadium?

All four Trifecta buildings are in Uptown Charlotte, about 10 miles — a 14–20 minute drive up I-77 to W.T. Harris Blvd — from the 49ers' stadium at UNC Charlotte. Game-day traffic runs longer, which is why many fans take the LYNX Blue Line instead and arrive car-free. Times are approximate.

Can I really take the train to the game?

Yes — and UNC Charlotte recommends it. Board the Blue Line at any Uptown station and ride about 25–35 minutes north. Get off at JW Clay Blvd for a ~10-minute walk to the gate, or stay on to the UNC Charlotte–Main terminus and take the free game-day shuttle to the stadium. No parking permit, no post-game traffic — and the late trains get you home after a night game.

Where do I park, and what does it cost?

Campus parking on game days is all paid — digital permits in advance, about $30 on the day (card only) — and the decks empty slowly onto W.T. Harris and N. Tryon afterward. Plenty of fans skip it with the Blue Line. If you do drive, staying 15 minutes away means a short trip back to your building’s own resident parking.

What's the 2026 home schedule?

Six home games at Jerry Richardson Stadium: The Citadel (Sep 5), Louisiana on Family Weekend (Sep 26), Memphis for Homecoming (Oct 3), Tulane on a Friday night (Oct 30), the East Carolina rivalry (Nov 14), and Navy on Military Appreciation Day over Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 28). Kickoff times are set closer to game week.

Is the stadium being expanded?

Yes. A $60M-plus expansion broke ground in 2025 and is set to open for the 2027 season, adding an upper deck above the student section and lifting capacity from 15,314 to about 18,000. For the 2026 season it’s the original 15,314-seat horseshoe.

Is an apartment better than a hotel for a game weekend?

For two or more nights, usually — a full kitchen for the pre-game spread, room for the whole group, in-unit laundry, and a lower per-night cost than a comparable hotel, with no OTA service fee when you book direct. It’s a comfortable base for a football weekend in Charlotte.
