Very nice place! Lots of space to spread out. We arrived early evening and were very happy to find a good Mexican restaurant just steps away. Convenient garage parking is also a huge plus.

Great place, centrally located and management was very responsive when a neighbor passed out with a movie on blast. Hammocks on the balcony were fantastic and place felt very large. 8 year old loved it.

Apartment vs hotel

Built for an event weekend, not just a night

  • A full kitchen

Feed a group before the event and skip the overpriced venue concessions. Cookware, dishwasher, full-size fridge — all included.

  • Room for the whole crew

A 2-bedroom sleeps six — one apartment instead of three hotel rooms, with a living room to actually hang out in.

  • In-unit laundry

Pack light for a multi-night run of shows or a season of home games. Washer and dryer in every unit.

  • Lower per-night cost

For two nights or more, a furnished apartment usually beats a comparable downtown hotel — and direct booking drops the 15–20% OTA service fee entirely.

  • Walk, don’t park

Most event venues sell little or no on-site parking, and nearby decks fill up and add up fast. Stay within walking distance and skip the cost and the post-event traffic.

  • A local team, not a call center

We own and operate every apartment. Book direct and you reach the people who run the building, instantly confirmed.

Getting around

No car needed

West Village is one of downtown Durham's most walkable addresses (Walk Score in the low 90s). The amphitheater is part of the American Tobacco Campus — a flat ~13-minute walk south — so you can walk to a free concert, dinner on the campus, the ballpark, and DPAC, then walk home. Durham's Amtrak station is in the complex itself.

  • On foot

West Village is in downtown Durham’s walkable Brightleaf district — the American Tobacco lawn is a flat ~13–15 minute walk south, and you walk home after the show.

  • Amtrak — Durham Station

Durham’s Amtrak station (601 W Main St) is right in the West Village complex (the Carolinian and Piedmont). There is no light rail in Durham.

  • Rideshare

A short, cheap hop if you’d rather not walk the ~0.7 mi each way.

  • Raleigh-Durham (RDU) airport

    About 13 miles / a 15–20 minute drive — easy for a fly-in weekend.

Good to know

Questions before you book

How far is each loft from the amphitheater?

Both West Village buildings are a flat ~13–15 minute walk south through downtown to the American Tobacco lawn. Most guests walk; a rideshare is a cheap alternative. Times are approximate.

What kind of shows play there?

It’s an open-air community concert lawn — best known for free outdoor series like “Live @ ATC” on summer evenings and the Tift Merritt-curated Duke Arts concerts in the fall, plus festivals and private events. It’s a relaxed, walkable add to a downtown Durham stay rather than a big ticketed arena.

Do I need to drive or pay for parking?

No — it’s a short walk, and the American Tobacco Campus offers free parking if you drive. Both lofts include on-site parking, so your car stays put.

Are these lofts better than a hotel?

For two or more nights, usually — 2-bedroom historic lofts that sleep six, with a full kitchen and separate living area, at a lower per-night cost than a downtown hotel and no OTA service fee when you book direct. And you walk to the lawn, the ballpark, and the shows.
